Its environmental studies program began in the 1970s and the College has been practicing what it teaches ever since. Redford Conservancy Awarded: At its 14th Green Gala, the Los Angeles
Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC-LA) presented the 8th Annual SustainableInnovation Awards (SIA), with the Project of the Year awarded to the Robert Redford Conservancy for Southern California Sustainability (Pitzer College), a net zero, adaptive reuse
model for existing buildings. The Redford Conservancy also won in the Energy & Atmosphere category! For more information, read the full announcement
ReRoom Winter Collection: 国产偷拍视频ReRoom accepts donations as part of our annual Winter Collection at the end of the fall semester! These items will be stored until next fall, when they will be available for sale to incoming and returning students, with all proceeds going to support student sustainability projects. ReRoom welcomes donations of common residence hall items that are in good working order and acceptable for resale or donation. So, if you are graduating, leaving to study abroad next semester, or just looking to de-clutter, please consider donating your used items to ReRoom. Donation boxes are available in the lobbies of the GSC and Mead Hall until the end of the semester.

While ReRoom operated at a loss of $386 for the year, our work diverted tons of waste from entering the landfill, provided a low-cost alternative to buying new items, and employed 15 student staff!
Top 50 Green Colleges: Pitzer is one of the 399 most environmentally responsible colleges according to The Princeton Review. The education services company known for its test prep and tutoring services, books, and college rankings features Pitzer in the 2018 edition of its free book,The Princeton Review Guide to 399 Green Colleges国产偷拍视频. Pitzer also made the “Top 50 Green Colleges” ranking list in the guide, coming in #7 on the list! The Princeton Review used data from its institutional survey and its surveys of students at the 399 colleges in the book to tally the ranking list. See the full rankings .
Food Waste Initiatives Update: During the ’17-’18 school year, student volunteers from Pitzer’s chapter of the Food Recovery Network donated about 2,111 pounds of leftover food from the dining hall to the Salvation Army in Ontario. During the same time, Pitzer diverted over 78,000 pounds of food waste from entering the landfill by participating in the City of Claremont’s food waste recycling program. Thank you to all the FRN volunteers, facilities and dining hall staff, Bon Appétit, and City of Claremont staff who made this all possible!
Free Class Pass!: 国产偷拍视频Thanks to a partnership between the Claremont Colleges and Foothill Transit, students are now able to receive a free Class Pass for unlimited rides on Foothill Transit buses! Don’t throw these items into the trash, as electronics may contain lead, copper, and other heavy metals or potentially toxic substances. Instead, bring your batteries, light bulbs, and small electronics to the new E-Waste Recycling Center in the mail room and dispose of these items properly!
