Diversity Program

Our Commitment

As part of our commitment to diversity and intercultural understanding, Pitzer College will host our Fall Diversity Program from Sunday, October 13 to Tuesday, October 15. The Diversity Program is designed specifically for admitted high school seniors from underrepresented racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds from across the United States

Meet Us

The program provides prospective students an opportunity to experience the distinctive atmosphere that sets Pitzer College apart from other colleges. You will have a chance to spend two nights on campus with a Pitzer student, attend a class, eat in the dining hall and meet other high school seniors who are considering Pitzer. If you are unable to attend the Diversity Program and would still like to visit Pitzer, we are happy to welcome you at another time. We offer visits Monday – Friday throughout the year and on select Saturdays in the fall. More information about visiting campus can be found on our website.

The Diversity Program is an all-expense-paid program for which round-trip transportation (air, train, bus, gas/mileage reimbursement) will be covered. Attendees will be hosted by current students in the residence halls and will dine on campus throughout the three-day weekend. Check out this of our program from the fall of 2017!

Students will arrive on Sunday morning followed by an afternoon of programming to introduce them to aspects of life at Pitzer. Monday will include opportunities to sit in on a class, be interviewed by admission staff, and explore the Claremont Colleges Consortium. We will conclude Monday night with an outing or activity in Southern California. Students will then return home on Tuesday morning.

The application for the Fall Diversity Program is available now and due August 26.

Please note: You will need a copy of your unofficial high school transcript through junior year; you will be asked to upload a copy to your application. You will also be asked to write one essay, so it may be beneficial to write the essay before starting the application. This essay prompt is the same one you will find on the Common Application, and it is okay to use the same essay for both applications. Here is the prompt:

As agents of change, our students utilize these values to create solutions to our world’s challenges. Please answer only ONE of the following prompts in 650 words or less.

  • Incorporating one or more of our core values, how would you contribute to solving a local or global issue of importance to you?
  • Reflecting on your involvement throughout high school or within the community, how have you engaged with one or more of Pitzer’s core values?
